Tokhtamysh–Timur War

1386 CE – 1395 CE · 9 years

The former protégé Tokhtamysh turned on Timur over the Caucasus and Khwarezm. Timur's counterstrikes at the Kondurcha and Terek rivers broke the Golden Horde's military spine, sacked Sarai and Astrakhan, and accelerated the Horde's fragmentation.
