Timurid Wars of Succession

Timur's death on 17 February 1405 touched off a civil war among his grandsons. Khalil Sultan seized Samarkand and the treasury while Shah Rukh consolidated Khorasan from Herat, entering Samarkand unopposed on 13 May 1409 to rule a reduced but stable Timurid realm.
