Suez Crisis

1956 CE

When Egypt nationalised the Suez Canal, Britain, France, and Israel invaded. U.S. and Soviet pressure forced a humiliating withdrawal, marking the end of British and French imperial pretensions and establishing the U.S. and USSR as the sole superpowers.
