First Schleswig War

1848 CE – 1851 CE · 3 years

German nationalists in Schleswig-Holstein revolted against Danish rule during the revolutions of 1848. Prussia intervened but withdrew under international pressure. The unresolved status of the duchies would trigger a second war in 1864.
