English Peasants' Revolt

1381 CE

The first great popular revolt in English history. Triggered by a poll tax, rebels under Wat Tyler marched on London, burned the Savoy Palace, and beheaded the Archbishop of Canterbury. Richard II met the rebels but Tyler was killed and the revolt collapsed.
