Anglo-Iraqi War

1941 CE

Strategically critical WWII conflict sparked by Rashid Ali's pro-Axis coup. Had the coup succeeded, Germany could have gained access to Middle Eastern oil and threatened the Suez Canal. British forces recaptured Baghdad within a month.
