Western Sahara War

1975 CE – 1991 CE · 16 years

After Spain withdrew from Western Sahara, Morocco and Mauritania invaded the territory, sparking a guerrilla war with the Algerian-backed Polisario Front. A ceasefire holds since 1991 but the territory's status remains disputed.
