Peninsular War
1807 CE – 1814 CE · 7 years
Napoleon's invasion of Iberia sparked a brutal guerrilla war — the conflict that gave the word 'guerrilla' to the world. Wellington's campaigns and Spanish irregular fighters tied down 300,000 French troops, creating what Napoleon called his 'Spanish Ulcer' that bled France's military strength.
