Paraguayan Civil War

1947 CE

Five-month civil war in Paraguay where the government defeated a coalition of opposition parties. The victory was secured largely thanks to Colonel Alfredo Stroessner, who would go on to rule Paraguay as dictator for 35 years (1954-1989).
