Liberian Civil Wars
1989 CE – 2003 CE · 14 years
Two devastating civil wars killed over 250,000 people and displaced a million more in the small West African nation. Warlord Charles Taylor's invasion in 1989 triggered the first war, and his presidency as an elected leader sparked the second. He was later convicted of war crimes by an international tribunal.
