
German Peasants' War
1524 CE – 1525 CE · 1 year
The largest popular uprising in European history before the French Revolution. Inspired by Lutheran ideas of equality, 300,000 peasants revolted across the Holy Roman Empire. Luther condemned them, and the princes killed an estimated 100,000 rebels.
