Fulani Jihad of Futa Jallon

A Fulani-led jihad in the highlands of Futa Jallon overturned the animist societies of the region and founded the Imamate of Futa Jallon, one of West Africa's earliest theocratic Islamic states, consolidated under Ibrahim Sori after Karamokho Alfa's death.
