Cristero War

1926 CE – 1929 CE · 3 years

Armed uprising in western Mexico by Catholic peasants against the anticlerical policies of the post-revolutionary government, particularly restrictions on the Catholic Church. Approximately 90,000 people died in three years of fierce fighting.
