Ashanti–Fante Wars

1806 CE – 1831 CE · 25 years

The Ashanti launched a full-scale invasion of Fanteland in 1806 to seize direct control of coastal trade with Europeans, consolidating power until a combined Fante and British force broke Ashanti dominance at Dodowa in 1826, leading to an 1831 treaty restoring Fante sovereignty.
