After the fall of the Qin Dynasty, rival warlords Liu Bang and Xiang Yu fought for control of China. Liu Bang's victory at the Battle of Gaixia established the Han Dynasty, which would rule for over four centuries and give the dominant Chinese ethnic group its name.
