Texan Revolution

American settlers in Mexican Texas revolted and declared independence. After the famous defeat at the Alamo and the massacre at Goliad, Sam Houston's surprise victory at San Jacinto captured Santa Anna and secured Texan independence — leading to U.S. annexation and the Mexican-American War.
