South Sudanese Civil War

The world's newest nation descended into civil war just two years after independence, as President Kiir accused Vice President Machar of a coup attempt. The war killed an estimated 400,000 people and displaced 4 million in a country of only 12 million, with widespread ethnic massacres and famine.
