
South American Wars of Independence
1808 CE – 1833 CE · 25 years
Inspired by the American and French revolutions, South American liberators Simón Bolívar and José de San Martín led campaigns that freed the continent from Spanish rule. By 1826, Spain had lost all its mainland American colonies except Cuba and Puerto Rico.
