Shang–Zhou War (Battle of Muye)

1046 BCE

King Wu of Zhou overthrew the Shang Dynasty at the decisive Battle of Muye, establishing the Zhou Dynasty — the longest-lasting dynasty in Chinese history. The Shang king reportedly set his palace ablaze and perished in the flames.
