
Portuguese Colonial Wars
1961 CE – 1974 CE · 13 years
Portugal fought simultaneous wars in three African colonies — the last European empire to resist decolonisation. The wars consumed 40% of Portugal's budget and led directly to the 1974 Carnation Revolution that overthrew the dictatorship.
