Philippine Revolution

1896 CE – 1898 CE · 2 years

Inspired by José Rizal's writings, Filipino revolutionaries rose against three centuries of Spanish colonial rule. The revolution established Asia's first democratic republic, though independence was short-lived as the U.S. took control after the Spanish-American War.
