Maji Maji Rebellion

1905 CE – 1907 CE · 2 years

Major anti-colonial uprising against German rule in German East Africa (Tanzania). United at least 20 ethnic groups, making it the first significant interethnic African resistance to colonialism. Germany's scorched-earth response caused famine that killed 75,000-300,000.
