Jugurthine War
112 BCE – 106 BCE · 6 years
Rome fought against the Numidian king Jugurtha in North Africa after he bribed Roman senators to overlook his seizure of the throne. Gaius Marius's rise to command during this war led to his military reforms that transformed the Roman army into a professional force.
