Toyotomi Hideyoshi invaded Korea with 158,000 troops as a stepping stone to conquer China. Korean admiral Yi Sun-sin's turtle ships devastated Japanese supply lines at sea, while Ming Chinese reinforcements turned the tide on land, forcing Japan to withdraw.
